The knowledge and experience of the Voices for Utah Children staff encompass many areas of child advocacy and human services. They are available to answer general questions about their areas of expertise or specific questions about Voices for Utah Children positions and projects in those specific areas. Karen Crompton
Executive Director

Karen Crompton was named executive director in 2001. As executive director, she serves as the organization's chief spokesperson, providing direction in its public policy initiatives and maintaining relations with foundations and national organizations. She is directly involved in the organization's interaction with state-level public policy makers, Utah’s congressional delegation, the news media, the children's advocacy community, and service sectors. Karen currently serves on various state and national advisory boards addressing health care, school readiness, child welfare, and other critical children's issues. She is a graduate of the University of Utah.
Terry Haven
KIDS COUNT Director

Terry Haven joined the organization in 1996. With the goal of providing data as a tool to improve the programs and policies for the children of Utah, Terry manages the Utah KIDS COUNT project that includes researching and publishing the Utah KIDS COUNT data book that reports on the well-being of Utah’s children by county. She also conducts trainings and provides technical assistance on data work relating to Voices' priority issues. Her academic background is in sociology, with a Bachelors degree and Masters degree from the University of Wyoming.
Allison Rowland
Budget and Research Director

Allison joined Voices for Utah Children in 2007 and brings a wealth of experience and education to the position. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Yale University and her Masters and PhD. in Policy, Planning and Development from the University of Southern California. Allison worked as a Professor at the Center for Research and Teaching of Economics in Mexico City since 1997. She recently returned to the United States and teaches in the Political Science department at the University of Utah.
Robyn Lipkowitz

Robyn Lipkowitz joined Voices for Utah Children in 2006. Her work focuses primarily on promoting policies and recommendations for expanding the availability of resources that support the subsidized child care program, improving access to and quality of child care, as well as state early childhood education initiatives. Robyn received her BS in Human Services from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas.
Korey Capozza
Senior Health Policy Analyst

Korey joined Voices for Utah Children in July 2008. She previously worked for the University of California Berkeley Labor Center where she provided research, analysis, and advocacy support to consumer and labor groups on statewide health reform, coverage expansion, and health care access and affordability. Prior to joining the Labor Center, she worked with the UC Berkeley Center for Public Health Practice on health disparities research, the Pacific Business Group on Health about several value-based purchasing initiatives, and BlueShield of California on coverage expansion. A Pew International Scholar and Knight Fellow, Capozza received her Master’s Degree in Health Policy and Management (MPH) from University of California, Berkeley, and Bachelor’s Degree in American History from the University of Pennsylvania.
Sara Gunderson

Sara joined Voices for Utah Children in 2007. She has 20 years of secretarial and administrative experience. During the past eight years, she worked in development at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center and has experience in donor relations, fundraising, and event planning. At Voices for Utah Children, she is the office manager as well as the executive assistant to Karen Crompton. Sara received her BS in Psychology at the University of Utah in 2007 with a coursework emphasis in infant and child development.
